Images of strange bats were circulated on Reddit in 2018 and became a hot topic online. Recently, another post continues to arouse interest about this special bat species.
Accordingly, they are species of bats native to the Philippines, known as “giant golden crown flying fox” bats. They are also known as the golden crown bat, which is a fruit of the world’s largest megabat family.
The golden crowned bat has the longest forearm length of any species, measuring up to 21.5 cm. Their wingspan also has an impressive length of 1.5 to 1.7 meters, enough to cover an average-sized human. The golden crown bat itself can weigh up to 1.4 kg.
While many people think these bats are quite scary, they are completely harmless. Yellow crowned bats mainly eat fruits and leaves, and their main food source is figs. These bats spend most of the day sleeping because they are also nocturnal like other bats.
Like all megabats, giant golden-crowned bats cannot locate or use high-frequency sound for navigation. In return, they have good eyesight and use their eyesight to fly and find food.

The “giant golden crowned flying fox” bat is currently protected by international conventions and is on the list of endangered wildlife. However, even when these bats are protected by Philippine and international law, poaching and trade continues, causing them to completely disappear from many islands in the Philippines such as Panay and many areas. of
