Striker Kylian Mbappe shined in Paris Saint Germain’s (PSG) 3-0 victory over Strasbourg and coach Enrique’s team was only one point behind the top of Ligue 1 held by Nice.
Coach Luis Enrique launched his strongest squad with Mbappe, Goncalo Ramos and Lee Kang In in attack when welcoming Strasbourg at home at Parc des Princes in round 9 of Ligue 1.
After only 10 minutes of rolling, PSG soon had an advantage when they received a penalty kick because Goncalos Ramos was fouled in the penalty area. On the 11m mark, striker Mbappe made no mistakes to help the home team open the score.
The early goal helped PSG players feel more comfortable and actively control the ball. In the 31st minute, Mbappe had a favorable assist for Carlos Soler to f inish at close range to help PSG take a 2-goal lead.
With the pass for Soler to score, Mbappe had his first assist this season. Meanwhile, the opening goal against Strasbourg helped him score the 8th goal in Ligue 1 and the 9th in all competitions if including the goal against Dortmund in the Champions League group stage. The score 2-0 remained until the end of the first half.
Entering the second half, Strasbourg tried to push the team higher in search of a goal to shorten the score, but then they had to pay the price with the home team’s quick counterattack in the 77th minute.
Midfielder Fabian Ruiz skillfully bypassed two opposing defenders in the penalty area before delicately scoring a 3-0 victory for the home team.
This victory is not enough to help PSG regain the top spot in Ligue 1 as they are still one point behind Nice at the top.
Real Madrid aims high with Mbappe transfer, putting pressure on rival clubs
Real Madrid made a clear decision about their future plans, making it difficult for Kylian Mbappe to transfer, while PSG is pressing for a new signing.
Marca newspaper said that Real Madrid’s priority is to focus on their current ‘valuable assets’: Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior.
“Real Madrid’s main focus lies on their emerging stars, Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Jr. Furthermore, the Spanish giant confirmed that it will not seriously consider the Kylian Mbappe deal until the beginning of the new year (2024).
The above source also noted that Mbappe wants to leave PSG after this season (ie next summer).
Everyone knows that Mbappe is a big target of Real Madrid and almost became a striker for the French national team last summer. Up to now they are said to still be interested in the PSG star.
However, the Vulture leaders took a strategic step, building a roadmap to develop the current squad before making important calculations in the transfer market.
Real Madrid does not want to be overly dependent on big deals like Kylian Mbappe or Erling Haaland.
The fact that the La Liga giant is ‘silent’ makes Mbappe face difficulties both literally and figuratively. Because with the prominence of Jude Bellingham and Vinicius, interest at the Bernabeu for Mbappe decreased significantly. Meanwhile, if the Vultures do not express their views clearly, it is likely that the French captain will have to negotiate with PSG in another way.
Sources from France said that PSG is setting a deadline for Mbappe to sign a new contract with the hope that he will stay until the summer of 2025, because they cannot patiently wait any longer.
