Jason Kelce may now be retired, but he hasn’t been forgotten, and even in his final season, he was very popular among NFL fans.
The NFL Players Association, the labor union that consists of the league’s players, released the list of the players who had the most sales of officially licensed merchandise during the previous league year.
Kelce was surprisingly at No. 2, behind only then-teammate Jalen Hurts.
Kelce was the Philadelphia Eagles’ starting center during all 13 of his seasons in the league, and his time with the Eagles spanned a couple of different regimes.
When he was a rookie in 2011, a resurgent Michael Vick, fresh off his 21-month prison sentence, was their quarterback.
Several years later, it was Carson Wentz who was starting under center, and he helped the Eagles win the Super Bowl championship during the 2017 season.
Even after Wentz suffered a season-ending injury that year, backup Nick Foles filled in and finished the job by leading Philly to a win over Tom Brady’s New England Patriots in the big game.
Hurts is now the main man in Philly, and he and Kelce famously teamed up to run the “Tush Push,” especially on fourth-down situations.
But it didn’t get the Eagles as far as they wanted to go, as they lost five of their last six regular-season games and got blown out in the Wild Card round of the playoffs by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Kelce will now be a member of the crew on ESPN’s “Monday Night Countdown.”
