The New York Jets are circled with a big question mark on the Miami Dolphins’ schedule. For years, the Jets have only had one missing piece to the puzzle: a quarterback. With a stacked defense and talented skill players, the Jets could be one quarterback short of a Super Bowl run. With this in mind, future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers made New York the final destination on his 19-year (and counting) journey.
Rodgers left behind the Green Bay Packers, the team that drafted him back in 2005. One factor that made his decision much easier was his favorite target, Davante Adams, accepting a five-year, $140 million deal with the Las Vegas Raiders. With the Raiders, Adams has learned the hard way that it’s tough to recreate the magic he had catching passes from Rodgers in Green Bay.
It could be assumed that Adams was unhappy, but with the release of “Receiver,” speculation has officially been confirmed. During a Week 8 matchup against the Detroit Lions, Adams was mic’d up when Jimmy Garoppolo overthrew him on a wide-open touchdown pass. His unfiltered response captured an inside look at how Adams really feels about his new team.
“This is fucking pathetic, bro. Just throw the fucking ball, man. I’m tired of this fucking bullshit,” Adams shouted, throwing his helmet on the sideline. Later, the six-time Pro Bowl receiver was caught saying, “I got to get the fuck out of here before I lose my fucking life. I ain’t never been hit this many fucking times in my career. Every game, I get fucked up.”
The quote has since spread on social media like wildfire. Many have suggested that a trade isn’t out of the picture, and what better place than New York, where Adams could reconnect with his favorite quarterback in the league?
So, what would this mean for the Dolphins?
If the Jets emerge as a top team, the Dolphins have their hands full in the AFC East. The Buffalo Bills are already enough of a problem, as quarterback Josh Allen consistently takes a dagger to the Dolphins’ AFC East champion dreams. If winning the division becomes even more challenging, the Dolphins would likely be left fighting for one of three Wild Card seeds in a highly competitive conference.
Luckily, this shouldn’t be an issue. Adams confirmed on Shannon Sharpe’s “Club Shay Shay” podcast that he has no plans of up and leaving any time soon.
“I’m locked in with the Raiders, and I really feel good about this team, and as far as I know, they feel good about me,” Adams said.
