LeBron James revealed on his Instagram story that he caught a lethal Arizona bark scorpion in his Phoenix hotel room.
LeBron James shared a picture on Instagram of a scorpion he found in his hotel bathroom. James noted that he wasn’t paying attention while taking a shower, but got lucky and spotted him while he was stepping out. He didn’t disclose whether he killed the scorpion or just left him there, but did joke about this being commonplace in Arizona.
“[Scorpion] tried to really get me when I was in the [shower]. Luckily, I was walking with my head down and saw him creeping! Welcome to Arizona.”
The scorpion is identified as an Arizona bark scorpion, which is native to its namesake state. The scorpion is extremely lethal and can kill people if it stings them. A male scorpion can be 3.14 inches long, whereas a female scorpion can reach 2.75 inches.
It is the most venomous scorpion in North America, and a sting from it could cause various side effects, which could include immobilization and loss of breath. James is lucky he didn’t actually get stung by the scorpion in his bathroom.
James certainly got an interesting welcome from the state of Arizona ahead of their final preseason game against the Phoenix Suns at the Footprint Center. The Lakers are currently 1-3 in their preseason games and have already lost once to the Suns, so they will be hoping to get their revenge on the Suns while closing out their preseason run on a high.
The Lakers’ previous game against the Suns featured a big moment for LeBron James, as he got to share the court with his son, Bronny, for the first time as teammates. It was an incredible sight to see father and son adorn in the same jerseys playing together.
But while it may have been a memorable evening for LeBron James, Bronny will be hoping to forget the rest of the game, as he had an abysmal performance. He put up 0 points, 2 rebounds, 0 assists, 0 blocks, and 0 steals while turning the ball over 3 times and picking up 4 personal fouls.
Of course, Bronny is a late second-round pick, and shouldn’t be expected to light the stat sheet on fire, but even by the standards he should be evaluated at, it was a poor outing for him.
LeBron James Focusing On Upcoming NBA Season
James spoke recently about the increased focus that the media has shown toward Bronny, even going as far as asking him questions about Bronny every chance they get. He noted that Bronny is an adult and he doesn’t need to answer questions on behalf of his son and teammate.
For James, as great as the moment of playing with his son will be when it comes during the regular season, his larger focus will be on helping the Lakers return to championship contention next season. He has looked great in preseason so far, as he shows that he is still one of the best players in the NBA despite turning 40 this December.
In his three games in preseason, James has averaged 12.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.6 rebounds. His last game against the Warriors really brought his average down, as he scored just 6 points while going 3-9 from the field. But overall, James has shown that he is ready to go for the new season.
Can the Lakers be contenders next season? There are certainly questions that can be asked about their roster’s quality, but given that they have one of the best duos in the entire league with LeBron James and Anthony Davis, they certainly can’t be ruled out from those conversations.
