The Kansas City Chiefs have been one of the best teams in the NFL for the last few years since head coach Andy Reid took over. Reid has been a coach in the league for 25 years and has cemented himself as one of the greatest head coaches in league history. However, a recent report by Mike Florio suggests that the long-time head coach’s time is limited, and he revealed that Reid could retire as soon as the end of this season.
Andy Reid Retirement Rumors
According to Florio, there is reason to believe that the Chiefs could be bracing for Reid’s sudden retirement. Reid has amounted to a 247-138-1 regular season record during his coaching career, along with a 22-16 postseason record, ranking him second in NFL history in total wins with 269. He is a three-time Super Bowl champion and has already won two with the Chiefs, so his career has already been deemed successful.
Kansas City Chiefs Brace For Reid’s Retirement
If Kansas City does win it all again this season, it could mean that the long-time head coach will call it a career as he is now 65 years old. Reid was recently asked about his future at a Chiefs press conference, which he completely dismissed by saying retirement was not on his radar. However, Florio’s report suggests that the head coach could be going under the radar to not bring attention to the matter.
The one I’m watching is, when the Chiefs season ends, is Andy Reid going to retire? He has said he is not thinking about it and the smart aleck would say there is nothing to think about if he has said he is not going to do it.
Flying Under The Radar
Florio adds that the uncertainty of Reid’s future could cause major chaos in the NFL coaching market as the job of coaching the Chiefs would quickly become highly sought after amongst current head coach candidates. As the Chiefs continue their run in the postseason, this will certainly be a topic to look out for, especially if Kansas City wins the Super Bowl. Do you think that Reid will remain with the team for the foreseeable future, or will he call it a career after the season ends?
