LeBron James and Bronny cemented themselves as the highest-scoring father-son duo in the history of the league, with Bronny finally scoring his first points in the NBA.
LeBron James and Bronny continue to make history, as the duo has now officially become the highest-scoring father-son duo in the history of the NBA, surpassing Kobe Bryant and his father Joe. With Bronny scoring his first points in the NBA on Wednesday night against the Cavaliers, the James’ are now on top of the list, which is as follows.
1. LeBron James (40,580 points) and Bronny James – (2 points) – 40,582 total points
2. Joe Bryant (5,252 points) and Kobe Bryant (33,643 points) – 38,895 total points
3. Dell Curry (12,670 points) and Stephen Curry (23,723 points) – 36,393 total points
4. Mychal Thompson (12,810 points) and Klay Thompson (15,609 points) – 28,419 total points
5. Dolph Schayes (18,438 points) and Danny Schayes (8,780 points) – 27,218 total points
6. Rick Barry (18,395 points) and Brent Barry (8,488 points) – 26,883 total points
7. Tim Hardaway (15,373 points) and Tim Hardaway Jr. (10,375 points) – 25,748 total points
8. Jimmy Walker (11,655 points) and Jalen Rose (13,220 points) – 24,875 total points
9. Patrick Ewing (24,815 points) and Patrick Ewing Jr. (3 points) – 24,818 total points
10. Rick Barry (18,395 points) and Jon Barry (4,715 points) – 23,110 total points
It looks like some pairings could climb further up the ranks, with players like Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Tim Hardaway Jr. still playing solid minutes on separate NBA teams. But LeBron and Bronny James are far and ahead of every other father-son duo in the NBA in terms of scoring.
Obviously, it should be said that much of the heavy lifting was done by LeBron James prior to Bronny even entering the NBA, as in 2023, he broke the NBA’s all-time scoring record, which was held by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. So any points contribution from Bronny is only going to add to the astronomical lead James has built over the years.
Bronny James Reflects On First Points
Bronny James spoke after the game against the Cavaliers about scoring his first points in the NBA, and how the support from his hometown crowd gave him the confidence to take the shot. It was a great moment for Bronny, who got to make history in the same arena he sat in numerous times watching his father become a legend.
LeBron James also spoke about Bronny’s big milestone, applauding him for showing the kind of composure he himself would have struggled to show at his age. While this was a memorable moment for LeBron and Bronny, it was a difficult loss for the Lakers, who lost their second game in a row while getting trounced 134-110 by the Cavaliers.
Bronny had 2 points, 2 assists, and 1 steal in just five minutes on the court, in what was his most impressive spell in an NBA game so far. LeBron James had a decent game with 26 points, six rebounds, and three assists, but gave the ball away a whopping six times.
Both Bronny and LeBron will be hoping to help the Lakers bounce back in tomorrow’s game against the Raptors. This road trip will mark the end of Bronny’s exclusive stint with the Lakers, as he will join their G-League unit in the coming weeks. He will hope to build on the positive momentum of his performance against the Cavaliers in the remaining games he plays.
