Medics rushed to help the stricken 23-year-old on the field in Houston, and cut off his jersey before putting him in a neck brace as teammates watched on.
The game was stopped for over 12 minutes while medics worked on Dubose, before he was carted off the field and transported to the local hospital.
As they knelt over him, NBC reported that doctors unscrewed Dubose’s helmet and applied an oxygen mask to the player.
He was hooked up to an EKG machine as he left on a backboard, with his neck in a brace.
Dubose was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, where he is now said to be in stable condition, according to CBS’s broadcast.
The injury occurred midway through the third quarter when Calen Bullock aimed a brutal tackle on Dubose as he tried to catch the ball near midfield.
As Dubose grabs the ball, Bullock slams into his helmet from close range and Dubose then smashes his head on the turf.
He is left motionless on his back as the ball comes loose, before players realize he is badly hurt and call for medics to attend to him urgently.
After treating him for a few minutes, doctors opted to cut his jersey off him on the field, a rare occurrence in the NFL.
While this was going on, the Miami Dolphins players huddled to pray for their teammate.
After his jersey had been cut off, Dubose was loaded onto a stretcher in a neck brace and carted to an ambulance which had been driven on the field.
He was then rushed to a local hospital for further evaluation, and NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported shortly after that the player is in stable condition.
Dubose played college football for Miles and Charlotte before being drafted to the NFL by the Green Bay Packers in the seventh round of the 2023 Draft.
He was released in August and claimed off waivers by the Dolphins. Sunday was just the third game of his fledgling NFL career.
The wide out made his league debut against the Jacksonville Jaguars in September, and caught his first pass a week later against the Buffalo Bills.
