The Kansas City Chiefs are aiming to potentially add explosive talent in the backfield alongside quarterback Patrick Mahomes, hosting former Baltimore Ravens running back J.K. Dobbins for a free agency visit on Tuesday.
Dobbins has battled through significant injuries throughout his career, including suffering a ruptured Achilles tendon in week 1 of the 2023 season that sidelined him for the remainder of the year,
just two years removed from missing the 2021 campaign after tearing his ACL during training camp.

How J.K. Dobbins Can Boost the Kansas City Chiefs Offense
When healthy, J.K. Dobbins is an explosive talent.
Through his first 24 games since being chosen in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, out of Ohio State, Dobbins has rushed for 1,347 yards with 12 touchdowns, while averaging 5.8 yards per carry.
If Dobbins can stay healthy and on the field, he is the kind of versatile weapon who can thrive in the Chiefs’ offense, after all, he’s also caught 27 passes for 177 receiving yards and seven touchdowns in his career.
The opportunity to reset his career in a scheme that’s built on using backs out of the backfield as receivers, in an offense that boasts the likes of playmakers Travis Kelce and Marquise “Hollywood Brown,” Dobbins could arrive in Kansas City with the opportunity to be prolific immediately.
Dobbins has the skill-set to be a worthy complement to Isaiah Pacheco in the Kansas City Chiefs’ backfield.
