The Baltimore Ravens have a need at wide receiver and in CBS Sports’ latest mock draft, Georgia’s Ladd McConkey sees his name called.
The Baltimore Ravens’ need for another weapon in Todd Monken’s offense is well known. With Odell Beckham Jr. not likely to be returning in 2024, a hole has opened up in Monken’s offense.
Despite having Zay Flowers, Nelson Agholor, Rashod Bateman to complement Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likely, the Ravens ideally, would like another weapon.
While the offensive line looms as another pressing need, in CBS Sports’ latest mock draft, Lamar Jackson gets another weapon – Georgia’s Ladd McConkey.
“Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken coached Ladd McConkey at Georgia, and he would be a nice addition for Lamar Jackson,” CBS writes. “McConkey and Zay Flowers would be a nice 1-2 combo for a few years.”

McConkey’s numbers at Georgia don’t jump off the screen, but he is consistent. He totaled 30 receptions for 478 yards and two touchdowns last season, and in 2022, 58 receptions for 762 yards and five touchdowns. So, the production is there.
The Georgia receiver has traits similar to those of several of Baltimore’s receivers. He’s smaller in stature and can run any route on the route tree. His strength and size aren’t ideal, but McConkey could easily be a Day 1 starter for the Ravens with his quick feet and superb acceleration off the line of scrimmage.
What might appeal to the Ravens most is that McConkey averaged 15.9 yards per reception last season, and in 2022 and 2021, he never dipped below 13 yards per reception – so he gets up-field in a hurry.
Ideally suited to the slot in the NFL, McConkey isn’t the needle-mover some might have hoped the Ravens pick in the first round, but he has the potential to be a solid NFL pro if given the chance. And in Baltimore’s offense, we imagine he will be getting plenty of those.
