The Miami Dolphins have been in a nightmare to start the 2024 season after falling to a 2-3 record through their first five games. Their star quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa, suffered another gruesome concussion earlier in the year, putting his future in football in serious doubt. With all these issues, the team could try to spark their team again before the trade deadline, and one quarterback that might be available could be the answer they need.
Miami Dolphins Could Sign Dallas Quarterback
CBS Sports has the Dolphins landing Dallas Cowboys quarterback Trey Lance before the trade deadline. With Tagovailoa’s return in question, bringing in Lance could be the move for the future in Miami, especially since head coach Mike McDaniel was with the San Francisco 49ers when they drafted Lance.
CBS Sports suggests the Miami Dolphins should trade for QB Trey Lance
“Tua Tagovailoa may return, but it feels irresponsible to trust he’ll stay upright and/or safe. Mike McDaniel was with the 49ers when the dynamic but unpolished Lance was drafted high.”

Lance has struggles in the NFL since being drafted and has not proven that he can be a solid starter. However, because of the familiarity between him and McDaniel, we could see the young quarterback emerge into what the 49ers wanted him to be. McDaniel has always brought out the best in his dynamic players and using their strengths, and the same can be true for Lance.
The young quarterback has gone for 797 passing yards and five touchdowns in his short career. He did shine briefly in this year’s preseason for the Cowboys, but struggled towards the end. Lance was one of the more promising prospects from his draft class, and has been a disappointment so far. However, the Dolphins could be the answer he is looking for because of the familiarity with McDaniel.
