The Kansas City Chiefs have finally made another significant move for their offense in free agency.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, former Arizona Cardinals WR Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown is signing with the Chiefs. The one-year deal is expected to be worth up to $11 million. During his last two seasons in Arizona, Brown had 118 receptions for 1,283 yards and seven touchdowns.
The deal brings Kansas City a proven wide receiver with explosive playmaking ability. Brown’s fast style matches the typical wide receiver prototype of the Chiefs offense.
After a season filled with noticeable drops from various receivers, Brett Veach and his staff understood the assignment of securing a reliable veteran receiver to join the room and match with quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
Brown’s best seasons came during his tenure with the Baltimore Ravens. In 2021, he finished with 91 receptions for 1,008 yards and six touchdowns. He will be paired alongside 2023 rookie standout Rashee Rice and will be an option to take attention away from tight end Travis Kelce. Kansas City’s dynamic offensively gained much-needed firepower on Thursday.
