D-Lo is a key player when James is not on the floor.
D’Angelo Russell has been phenomenal in the past few games, winning games for his team, while being a more responsible player. The Lakers stand 9th in the West, and they are more likely to participate in the Play-In tournament rather than try and fight for the 6th seed. Russell on the other hand, hasn’t failed to impress Lakers fans during the leader’s absence, filling the stat sheet each night.
LeBron James and Anthony Davis, the veterans on the team have been doing their all, looking to lead the squad to win it all. The duo did succeed last year, going as far as the Conference Finals. Their fanbase on the other hand is also something that is not to argue on. However, Russell believes himself to be stealing it each night in the past week.
In last night’s game versus the Kings, the Lakers went back home with a tough loss, 107-120. D’Angelo, despite having great games wasn’t consistent against Sacramento, finishing the game with just 6 points, while shooting 22% from the field. Russell has struggled in the past as well, though once he gets in the rhythm, he is the most reliable guy to make the last shot.
LeBron James has all his trust in D’Angelo Russell
The Lakers played the Milwaukee Bucks on the 9th of March. Both teams went back and forth, and the game went down the wire. With just 23 seconds left in the fourth, LA took a timeout, being down by one. Russell was having a great night already when James urged him to take the last shot. The following play resulted in a game-winning floater by Russell putting the Lakers up by one.
D’Angelo Russell has proved his potential, playing alongside two of the greatest forwards in the league. His ability to shoot and make his shots has helped the Lakers in crucial situations. With players like him and Austin Reaves, the men in purple have a pretty good scoring roster.
