In a swift shift within the NFL’s financial landscape, Tyreek Hill, the celebrated Miami Dolphins wide receiver, has been bumped down to the fourth highest-paid position among NFL wideouts. This change comes on the heels of Justin Jefferson’s sizable new contract with the Vikings, positioning him as the highest annual earner among star wide receivers.
Jefferson now leads the pack, immediately followed by A.J. Brown and Amon-Ra St.
Brown, leaving Hill in fourth place with an annual earnings average of $30 million. Despite this handsome sum, Hill has been vocal about his desire for a renegotiated contract with the Dolphins, led by general manager Chris Grier.
According to insider Adam Schefter, the Dolphins are poised to address Hill’s contract concerns:
“The Dolphins are gonna figure out a way to adjust Tyreek Hill’s deal. The Dolphins know that that’s coming and they know they have to take care of Tyreek Hill,” Schefter remarked on Pat McAfee’s show.
This anticipation sets the stage for Hill to possibly receive a new or adjusted contract from the Dolphins.
Adam Schefter elaborated on the situation, suggesting that while a completely new deal might not be on the table, adjustments are likely to augment Hill’s standing within the team financially. This comes after Hill, represented by agent Drew Rosenhaus, signaled to the Dolphins post the 2023 season their wish for a salary uplift following a stellar performance that year.
Despite aiming for 2,000 receiving yards, Hill ended the season with an impressive 1,799 yards, leading the league and securing a First-Team All-Pro selection for the second year running. Hill’s case for a revamped contract was further emboldened after witnessing A.J.
Brown’s lucrative deal, and now even more so with Jefferson’s recent guaranteed $110 million agreement.
While there have been no indications of discord between Hill and the Dolphins, Rosenhaus’s ongoing dialogue with the Dolphins’ front office suggests a mutual interest in addressing and amending Hill’s financial recognition with the team. Schefter’s insights hint that a significant announcement concerning Hill’s contract might be on the horizon, signaling a potentially rewarding resolution for the NFL’s elite receiver.
