The Miami Dolphins signed wide receiver Mike Harley Jr. on Wednesday morning and waived offensive lineman Chasen Hines to make room on the roster.
Harley, 26, went to St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. before starring as a member of the Miami Hurricanes. His 182 career collegiate receptions broke Reggie Wayne’s record at the school.
After going undrafted in 2022, he spent his rookie year on the Cleveland Browns’ practice squad, but failed to make the roster in 2023. He had a brief stint with the D.C. Defenders of the United Football League earlier this year.
The Dolphins were in need of another receiver in camp with several players at the position currently out of action. Veteran addition Odell Beckham Jr. is still on the team’s PUP list and Jaylen Waddle, Braxton Berrios, and Erik Ezukanma are all temporarily sidelined.
The nature of the injuries for Waddle, Berrios, and Ezukanma haven’t been revealed, but Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel has brushed off concerns that any of the issues are serious.
Hines, 24, spent the 2023 season on the Dolphins’ practice squad after he was released by the New England Patriots at the end of training camp.
