Raheem Mostert defied time in 2023, producing his best statistical season at the age of 30. However, this season has painted a different picture, with age seemingly catching up to the Miami Dolphins running back.
Mostert suffered an injury during the second half of Miami’s Week 1 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. This injury sidelined him for the following week’s game against the Buffalo Bills.
While he returned to practice before Week 3, he remained sidelined for the matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.
Mostert’s name has been added to a growing injury list for the Dolphins, which already features key players such as Terron Armstead, Kendall Fuller, Odell Beckham Jr., and David Long Jr. The Dolphins are taking a cautious approach with Mostert’s recovery from a chest injury. He was able to practice again this week, but his status for Week 4 remains uncertain.
While the Dolphins remain tight-lipped about Mostert’s availability for the Monday Night Football clash against the Tennessee Titans, prudence dictates that they should prioritize his long-term health, even if it means holding him out. Fortunately for the Dolphins, their running back corps boasts considerable depth.
De’Von Achane and Jaylen Wright are more than capable of shouldering the workload, with Jeff Wilson Jr. providing further reinforcement. This depth affords the Dolphins the luxury of exercising patience with Mostert’s return.
The final decision on Mostert’s playing status will be revealed an hour before kickoff when the inactive list is released. The game, part of a double-header on ESPN/ABC, commences at 7:30 p.m.
ET. Should Mostert be deemed fit enough to play, his involvement should be managed carefully, likely under a limited snap count.
