Gisele’s return at the end of Fast X surprised viewers, but writers hinted at her return eight years earlier thanks to one specific incident. Played by Gal Gadot, Gisele debuted in The Fast & The Furious as a member of the Braga Cartel. However, her allegiances changed to the Toretto-O’Conner team after Dom saved her life and offered her a place. Gisele was an integral member as her fighting and driving skills helped the team rob Hernan Reyes (Fast Five) and defeat Owen Shaw (Fast & Furious 6).
Sadly, Gisele’s time was limited as she was killed at the end of Furious 6 whilesaving Han. As the Fast & Furious franchise often kills major characters off before, and the fact Gisele didn’t appear in Tokyo Drift, no one thought anything of it. However, as Fast X showed, this was a misdirection. Not only is she alive, but Gisele is working with Cipher to help her escape the Black Site prison in Antarctica. If viewers paid attention to Furious 7, they would have known a Gisele Fast and Furious return was always on the cards.
The Fast Saga Has A History Of Resurrecting Dead Characters
Like the rest of the Fast saga movies before it, the climax of Fast & Furious 6 was as exciting as ever as it was full of action and drama. Gisele wasn’t the only character who apparently died, either. Despite Gisele’s tragic demise, the Toretto-O’Conner team managed to defeat Owen Shaw’s crew as they successfully apprehended them while they were trying to escape. Owen Shaw appeared to have been killed as the momentum of the plane also caused him to be thrown out.
However, it was revealed in Fast & Furious 7 that this was not the case as the opening scene showed him to be alive (albeit in critical condition). Considering that he fell from a greater height (compared to Gisele), the fact that Owen survived certainly created hope that Gisele had too. In addition, the fact that the audience never saw Gisele’s body after she fell from the plane wing also seems to hint the door was always left open for her. Gisele’s death was a shocking moment, but there was always a chance it wasn’t permanent.
As Dom and his crew will tell you, a Fast and Furious life is dangerous. Good and bad guys alike have met their end in the car-racing franchise.
Fast & Furious 11 Still Has To Properly Explain How Gisele Is Alive
Gal Gadot’s Character May Be Back, But It’s Still Not Known How
With the Gisele Fast and Furious return in Fast X, the writers have to fill in the gaps as to where Gal Gadot’s character has been and how she survived. While it’s likely they will start from the point her body disappeared, the audience still needs a proper explanation as to how she recovered, since her injuries would have been life-threatening. Hopefully, the explanation will be a little less far-fetched than the one they gave Letty (and is a little bit more realistic than Han’s was), but it’s still a plot detail that Fast & Furious 11’s plot has to resolve.
Fast X
Vin Diesel and the family return for the tenth installment of the Fast & Furious franchise in Fast X. Charlize Theron returns as Cipher joining forces with Dante Reyes, a former foe of the Fast Family seeking revenge for the death of his father Hernan Reyes, after the events of Fast Five. Fast X is part one of a two-part conclusion to the franchise.
