Miami Dolphins’ defensive standout Jaelan Phillips is making noticeable strides in his recovery, as observed in a recent video on social media. On Tuesday, Phillips demonstrated impressive mobility in his feet, signaling significant progress in his recovery journey.
Suffering a season-ending Achilles tendon injury last year during a match against the New York Jets, Phillips has been diligently working on his rehabilitation to return to the field as swiftly as possible. The video showcases Phillips engaging in ladder drills without footwear and exhibiting robust performance, indicating a strong recovery just days ahead of the training camp for veterans. Although it’s not anticipated that Phillips will immediately join the full camp activities, his progress provides a promising outlook.
Only four months earlier, walking was a challenge for Phillips. Currently, he has resumed performing individual football drills. Additionally, the former University of Miami player mentioned in a previous post that he finished playing an 18-hole round of golf for the first time since his injury, underlining his commitment to a swift and effective rehabilitation.
Drafted 18th overall in the 2021 NFL Draft, Phillips has played in 42 games, starting 26, and has amassed 146 tackles, 52 quarterback hits, and 22 sacks. Last season, he was on track for a standout All-Pro year before the injury curtailed his progress in Week 12.
While Phillips and his teammate Bradley Chubb are sidelined from practice, rookies Chop Robinson and Mohamed Kamara are taking advantage of the opportunity to refine their skills with increased reps. Beyond the field, Phillips and Chubb have been actively mentoring these rookies, providing guidance and coaching outside regular practice sessions.
