Chiefs HC Andy Reid Delivers Strong Message to Team on Sloppy Win.

The Kansas City Chiefs didn’t have the cleanest game against the 3-8 Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

giving up a late lead and needing some late-game heroics from Patrick Mahomes to come out with a victory.

But head coach Andy Reid didn’t want to see players feeling down over the shaky performance.

delivering some words of encouragement following the 30-27 victory.

The Chiefs built up a 14-point lead late in the first half thanks to two touchdown passes to tight end Noah Gray.

but watched the Panthers rally late in the game to tie the score at 27 with under two minutes remaining in the game.

The Chiefs responded quickly, driving deep into Panthers’ territory thanks in large part to a 33-yard scramble from Mahomes.

The play set up a game-winning, 31-yard field goal from recent addition Spencer Shrader.

Though the Chiefs struggled at times — just one week after the Buffalo Bills ended their perfect season .

Reid said the players should be proud of their effort against the Panthers.

“So look, I don’t want to see anybody hanging their head, men,” Reid said.

“This league is crazy.

That’s the way this thing goes.

You saw it yesterday with college football.

Nothing’s given to you. And you’re getting their best shot.

“So you keep your heads up, men.

And you get this thing rolling.

We’ve got some things we’ve got to clean up.

But we keep it rolling here.

That’s the important part.

Winning is the important part right here.

And you guys beared down and got it done.”

Mahomes also looked for the positives despite the shaky win, saying this kind of adversity can help the Chiefs in the long run.

“You always want to have some blowouts and be a little calmer in the fourth quarter.

but I’ve always said it could be a good thing when you get to the playoffs later in the season knowing that you have been in those moments before.

and knowing how to attack it play by play not making it too big of a moment,” Mahomes said.
