The NFL is set to unveil the much-anticipated schedule for the 2024 regular season this Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET, officials confirmed earlier today, aligning with previous reports from the Sports Business Journal.
The league’s decision to release the schedule comes with heightened excitement as it outlines specific dates and times for matchups that fans have been eagerly awaiting, though some details may still be to be announced (TBA).
In a significant reveal ahead of Wednesday’s comprehensive schedule announcement, the NFL disclosed that the 2024 season will kick off with a blockbuster matchup featuring the Baltimore Ravens and the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs. This opener, set for Thursday, Sept. 5 at the Chiefs’ home ground, Arrowhead Stadium, is a repeat of the previous AFC Championship Game, promising a thrilling start to the season.
Apart from the opener, the NFL has teased that additional games, one representing each of the NFL’s network partners, will be disclosed before the full schedule release on Wednesday night.
The unveiling traditionally happens in the second week of May; however, this year’s schedule announcement saw a minor delay. This shift has been attributed to the NFL’s innovative planning, specifically the decision to host two matchups on Christmas Day in 2024, which unusually falls on a Wednesday.
For Miami Dolphins fans, there’s a lot to look forward to. The Dolphins’ schedule for home games includes matches against their regular AFC East rivals, alongside fixtures with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans, Las Vegas Raiders, Arizona Cardinals, and San Francisco 49ers.
On the road, the Dolphins will face off against the Buffalo Bills, New York Jets, and New England Patriots. Their itinerary also includes games against the Cleveland Browns, Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, Los Angeles Rams, Seattle Seahawks, and Green Bay Packers.
Last season, the Dolphins were spotlighted in three prime-time games in addition to a singular game on Black Friday. They even secured a fourth night-time game when their critical Week 18 battle for the AFC East title against the Buffalo Bills was moved to conclude the 2023 season, further raising the stakes and the viewership.
This new season’s schedule release not only sparks excitement among fans but also hints at the strategic and entertainment-centric decisions made by the NFL to enhance the game day experience for its audience.
