The Ravens activated two defensive linemen from the practice squad, nose tackle Josh Tupou and defensive end Chris Wormley, before Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos.
Baltimore’s defensive line is banged up with Michael Pierce (calf) going on injured reserve this week, defensive end Brent Urban (concussion) ruled out, and Travis Jones (ankle) questionable.
“Obviously, those guys are very important players for us, but the guys we have behind them, I’m excited about,” Defensive Coordinator Zach Orr said. “Here in Baltimore, the interior D-Line is something we take seriously, and we always have a contingency plan for that, and I don’t think that’s going [to] really change the way we call it.”
Tupou was re-signed earlier this week after spending much of the summer in Baltimore but not making the 53-man roster. Tupou played in 65 games (23 starts) over six seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals.
It will be Wormley’s first game as a Raven since 2019 and first game since suffering a major knee injury near the end of the 2022 season, when he was a Pittsburgh Steeler. Wormely was brought back to Baltimore’s practice squad on Sept. 16.
The Ravens did not activate running back Keaton Mitchell to the 53-man roster. He’s been on the reserve/physically unable to perform list since the start of the season but is nearing a return. Baltimore has a short week next week before facing the Cincinnati Bengals on “Thursday Night Football.”
