Chin up Ravens fans! While the Baltimore Ravens might have lost a frustrating game to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, they’re still in a solid position to make the playoffs and still have a decent shot at winning the AFC North as well. The same cannot be said for the Cincinnati Bengals, who dropped to 4-7 with their 34-27 loss to the Chargers on Sunday night.
The Ravens have handed the Bengals two of those seven losses and now, with Cincinnati’s latest loss, their chances of making the postseason sit at a paltry 10% according to NFL Next Gen Stats. For a team that went to back-to-back AFC Championships in the 2021 and 2022 seasons (and reached the Super Bowl in February 2022), the Bengals have spiraled out of control and Ravens fans are loving it.
Clearly losing is not something that Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is used to. The former number-one overall pick looked demoralized when walking off the field after another defeat. Now granted, not many quarterbacks are going to be jumping for joy when they just lost a tight game (or any game) but Burrow looked especially bummed out. He slowly removed his helmet and then moved at a snail’s pace toward the sidelines.
Joe Burrow’s defeated attitude is a wonderful sight for Ravens fans
That loss to the Chargers was pretty much the nail in the coffin for Cincinnati’s playoff chances and that’s great news for Ravens fans. It wasn’t fun watching Burrow and the Bengals steamroll teams in the playoffs and reach AFC title games in back-to-back seasons. Fans were hoping they wouldn’t become a mainstay in the AFC race every year and fortunately, it looks like they’ve regressed back to being a mostly irrelevant team.
What’s even funnier about this situation for Ravens fans is that the Bengals offense is really good and they still have just four wins on the year. Burrow has thrown for 27 touchdowns and four interceptions and is on track to have a career year yet it hasn’t amounted to wins. Burrow went so far as to say that this has been the most frustrating season he’s experienced.
It’s always fun to see a divisional opponent down in the dumps but after how cocky Bengals fans were during their run at the top, it makes this moment even sweeter for Ravens fans. Let’s hope the Bengals continue to stumble along for the foreseeable future.
