And the former Manchester United player has not found a new club after receiving the Premier League Golden Glove Award last year.
Before signing Kepa Arrizabalaga on loan from Chelsea, Real Madrid was rumored to be interested in the goalie.
De Gea was then negotiating with German champions Bayern Munich and was close to agreeing to a transfer.
However, manager Thomas Tuchel reportedly blocked the trade. Long-term keeper Manuel Neuer is now anticipated to return from his injury as soon as possible.
De Gea has already released a video of himself working out on a training field on Instagram as the deadline for applications closes on Friday.
He was practicing his kicking, catching, and footwork while sporting a Kevin Durant basketball jersey.
Alongside the clip, he added the caption: “Work hard. Push yourself ⚽️.”
Reacting to the social media post, ex-Man Utd team-mate Bruno Fernandes said: “Muy bien Kevin 👏🏼😅.”

De Gea is a free agent and might sign with a team after the signing period expires.
But with the domestic season now underway, he will be hoping a settlement can be reached as quickly as possible.
De Gea played more than 500 games for Manchester United and was four times voted the team’s player of the year.
During his tenure with the team, he won the Europa League, FA Cup, two Carabao Cups, and the Premier League.
