Following the news, Kelce’s quarterback took to social media to celebrate his new deal.
‘I told yall I’ll never let him leave!!’ Mahomes wrote on his repost. ‘Congrats my guy! @tkelce.’
Meanwhile, on the Pat McAfee Show, the crew also celebrated Kelce’s hard-earned extension during their program.
‘Travis Kelce, who had taken pay cuts in the past to potentially open more space up in the salary cap, has obviously produced [results],’ McAfee said. [He] is now a multiple-time Super Bowl champion, a world icon, a podcast host, and now the highest-paid tight end in history, congratulations!’
Additionally, Chiefs safety Justin Reid praised Kelce after receiving his extension, writing: ‘Yessir!!! No better player or teammate in the league than this guy!!’
Kelce just wrapped up his 11th NFL season after getting drafted by Kansas City in 2013.
The tight end has warranted his contract after seven consecutive seasons of 1,000-plus receiving yards from 2016-2022. Unfortunately, Kelce fell short of extending the streak last season when he tallied 93 catches for 984 yards and five touchdowns.
Aside from helping the Chiefs to three Super Bowl titles, Kelce has made four First-Team All-Pro and nine Pro Bowl selections throughout his career.
Kelce was the fourth-highest-paid player in his position before signing his new deal.
