Fast & Furious star Vin Diesel has shared how he had the script for the next instalment in the franchise, Fast X, changed to include Mia Toretto at the insistence of his daughter.
On Instagram, Diesel explained that the Fast X script didn’t originally include Mia, who is played by Jordana Brewster, and is the wife of the late Paul Walker’s character Brian O’Conner.
“When the F10 script came in, it excluded Mia Toretto…. Someone whom I’ve attributed the brotherhood of Dom and Brian to,” Diesel wrote. “I was so disappointed that I couldn’t see how I could continue.”
Diesel went on to say that it was his daughter who made sure Mia was included in the movie, adding: “Side note, you will never believe who corrected the very important role of Mia… my daughter, the Alpha Angel, who told the director very plainly and honestly ‘NO MIA NO FAST 10!’ haha.”
Jordana Brewster was confirmed as returning to the franchise earlier this week, along with Charlize Theron’s Cipher, Sung Kang, Tyrese Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez, Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges and Nathalie Emmanuel.
The film will also see the introduction of a number of new characters including Captain Marvel‘s Brie Larson as the newest family member.
Announcing her arrival, Diesel wrote on Instagram: “You have no idea how timeless and amazing she will be in our mythology. Beyond her beauty, her intellect… her Oscar, haha is this profound soul who will add something you might not have expected but yearned for. Welcome to the FAMILY Brie.”
